Your opinion is the correct one inasmuch as it's the only one that matters in this situation. It seems to me that perhaps your interlocutor just dosen't have all the facts of the situation. I see this less as an argument and more of a mis- or perhaps a lack of understanding. Then again, maybe I don't know all of the facts either.
You may be right... it really just didn't make matters worse when I refused to answer a question (in fact, Patrick was the first to say that it was a bad question and that I didn't have to answer. sweet boy that he is) I had a group of drunken friends yelling at me that I had to drink or strip. You know what this is about just as much as Err Head does- so the level of facts known is relatively the same.
i think if your reaction will be that violent you are right to tell him. you are equally correct in either a) attending and leaving before the start of the game (aka making a cameo appearance) or b) just not attending the party, which is what I would do.
i mean, i look at it this way: if i was having a party with a theme of spiders, I wouldn't expect any of my friends with a mortal terror of spiders to attend, and if I was having a regular party with a spider-themed game I'd want to have an alternative for the mortal-terror of spiders people, as well as, you know, anyone else that didn't want to play the first game.
This is actaully regarding something that did happen at a past party- the first party I attended in Seattle actaully. I still feel very upset about what happened- I can fill you in when we both get back to Pgh. if you like. It's just been weighing heavily on me both my reaction and the reactions of my fellow friends. Thank g-d Patrick was there for me, otherwise aformentioned badness would have occurred. *sigh*
